Good Dog RestaurantGone are the days when a hotdog just goes well with ketchup and mustard. At Good Dog Restaurant, a hotdog is just the beginning.
Regulars head to Good Dog Restaurant when they want a quality hot dog experience. Owners, a father/daughter duo, Susan and Fred, have become hotdog connoisseurs, with Susan’s memories of the handheld food dating back to childhood. Fond memories led the two to open the restaurant, and they use their European background to bring special treats to one of America’s favorite foods.
The menu offers a surprising twist to hot dogs. For instance, try the Chicago-style served with yellow mustard, sweet green pickle relish, chopped onion, tomato, sport peppers, celery salt and poppy seeds. The pimento cheese dog features homemade pimento cheese, frite sauce and tomato. The Southern slaw dog is served up with yellow mustard, slaw and onion.
Frites, commonly referred to as fries, are somewhat of a specialty at the restaurant. The menu features BLT frites served with—yep, you guessed it—bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and a dollop of frites sauce. The BBQ frites are served with slaw, bacon, scallions and a swirl of housemade BBQ sauce.
Customization is preferred at the restaurant and the amount of toppings and sauces makes the combinations limitless. Ingredients that can be added to hot dogs and the salads include avocado, eggs, cucumbers, veggie chili, cilantro and many more. Frites sauces include bleu cheese and Bertman’s Ballpark brown mustard.
If you’ve got a taste for something sweet, try Good Dog’s “cupped-cakes,” including flavors such as carrot cake and devil’s food vanilla buttercream. - by Leah M.
