I work with all types of media, from oil paints to clays to hemp.
Currently, I'm doing a lot of work with polymer clay, creating Treasure Boxes which can be used for jewelry, etc. I'm also putting together a lot of neat jewelry; necklaces and bracelets. Most of the jewerly is made with hemp but some is done with cotton cord. I try to stay away from leather because of it's origin, however, I do have a couple of pieces made with leather cord. The leather cord was given to me and wasted leather cord is just as bad if not worse than the cord itself.
I love using hemp because it is recyclable/biodegradeable. Unfortunately, the polymer beads aren't necessarily environmentally friendly, but they are durable and do not have lead paint in them. ;)
Outside of my current venture, I also paint. I usually use acrylics but have mosied over to oil a couple of times.
I "re-purpose" shoes as well. I've always hated for my shoes to go to waste just because their colors have faded and I'm not a fan of shelling out big bucks for a pair of kicks, so I started painting my old ones. Viola! new kicks after just a couple hours of work!
