I've been a bit obsessed with the West Coast lately, but today I thought I'd bring you guys a little closer to home and tell you about Chattanooga, Tennessee. The town of Chattanooga, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in southeastern Tennessee, may not be high on your list of continental destinations, and if you love nature, good food, and good beer, it probably shouldn't be. If you're like me, you should probably be there because it's one of my favourite places on the planet.

It is full of great attractions in Chattanooga and one of the best places in town to relax, and there are many things to do with your kids in Chattanooga. If you're in Chattanooga, Tennessee, having fun and want to learn on the go, a tour is a good idea. Visit the Tennessee Aquarium, dine at one of the many restaurants, climb or at least admire the impressive buildings. The Cumberland Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in the United States and stretches for 300 miles along the Cumberlands Plateau from Signal Point to Cumberland Gap. Take the five-mile asphalt road that runs from Ross Landing in downtown Chattanooga to Chickamauga Dam.

Coolidge Park, which includes 13 acres of public land in the heart of downtown Chattanooga, just blocks from the Tennessee Aquarium, is Chattanooga's favorite spot for weekend fun. Point Park Lookout Mountain overlooks the Chattanooga Moccasin Bend and Tennessee River, and a visitor center is available at the park's entrance on the west side of the river.

The free CARTA Downtown Electric Shuttle operates between Chattanooga's Choo-Choo and the Tennessee Aquarium. It's hard to beat the ChOO - Choon as your home base, from where you can enjoy the Aquarium, the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and other downtown Chattanooga attractions.
